RPCS3 announces big fix for one of best PS3-exclusive racing games

The RPCS3 team has announced yet another bug fix for a PS3 game on X. This time around, developer kd-11 fixed the rear-view mirror output inside vehicles, which was broken in early Gran Turismo 6 versions. Gran Turismo 6 versions up to 1.05 now don’t suffer from this bug.
For the uninitiated, Gran Turismo 6 launched all the way back in December 2013 as a PlayStation 3-exclusive. It stands at an 81 on Metacritic. Early reviews from critics like The Telegraph praised the game for its depth and a ton of in-game content. However, the game suffered from lower sales due to it being stuck on the PlayStation 3 even when the PS4 was out a month earlier in November 2013.
Sadly, RPCS3 fixing the rear view issue doesn’t mean that Gran Turismo 6 has entered the RPCS3’s “Playable” list. The RPCS3 team still categorizes Gran Turismo 6 as “Ingame”, among 703 other participants, due to various graphical issues and a boot issue. RPCS3 warns users not to update the game beyond version 1.05, as “newer versions suffer from severe graphical issues and poor frame rate”.
Sadly, this apparently doesn’t mean that Gran Turismo 6 has good performance. In its current state, users report that the overall performance is still poor. We must mention here that PS3 emulation with RPCS3 is incredibly CPU-dependent. A powerful processor like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is likely to solve many performance issues that plague weaker CPUs. Be sure to take a look at the official RPCS3 system requirements to see where your current gaming setup stands. So, if you want to play PS3 games on your PC, make sure your CPU is up to the task. Investing in a modern, higher-end processor will earn you a lot of performance in RPCS3.
