AMD Ryzen 3 7320U vs AMD Ryzen 5 2600H

AMD Ryzen 3 7320U

► remove from comparison AMD R3 7320U

The AMD Ryzen 3 7320U is a mobile processor for cheap laptops of the Mendocino series. It integrates four older Zen 2 cores (similar to the Ryzen 4000 series like the Ryzen 3 4300U). The CPU cores clock from 2.4 GHz (base) to 4.1 GHz (single core Turbo) and can use 4 MB L3 cache. Thanks to SMT/Hyperthreading, the CPU can work on 8 threads simultaneously. The integrated memory controller only supports fast LPDDR5 memory (5500 MHz max.). Compared to the fastest Mendocino model the Ryzen 5 7520U, the 7320U offers lower clocked CPU cores (400 MHz base, and 200 MHz Turbo).

The integrated graphics adapter (Radeon 610M iGPU) uses the modern RDNA 2 architecture, but only 2 CUs (128 shaders) and clocks with up to 1.9 GHz.

Performance

We have not tested a single system built around the 7320U, as of September 2023. Expect the chip to be about as fast as the Ryzen 3 3100 (four Zen 2 cores running up to 3.9 GHz).

Your mileage may vary depending on how high the CPU power limits are and how competent the cooling solution of your laptop is.

Mendocino series chips are produced on a relatively modern 6nm FinFET process at TSMC and should offer a good power efficiency. The R3 7320U is rated at 8-15 W TDP and therefore well suited for thin and light laptops.

AMD Ryzen 5 2600H

► remove from comparison AMD R5 2600H

The AMD Ryzen 5 2600H is a mobile SoC that was announced late 2018. It is intended for mid-sized to big laptops and combines four Zen cores (8 threads) clocked at 3.2 (base) - 3.6 GHz (boost) with a Radeon RX Vega 8 Mobile graphics card with 8 CUs (512 Shaders, unverified). The integrated dual-channel memory controller supports up to DDR4-3200 memory.

Compared to the older Ryzen 5 2500U for slim and light laptops, the 2600H offers a higher TDP (45 Watt versus 15 Watt), higher clocked memory, a higher base clock (3.3 versus 2 GHz) and a faster integrated GPU.

More information on Raven Ridge can be found in our launch article.

The performance should be slightly better than the Ryzen 5 2600U due to the higher TDP and base clock speed. Especially longer loads should profit from this. Due to the high TDP (configurable from 35 - 54 Watt), the Ryzen 7 2600H is best suited for bigger laptops.
