Pokémon Champions launches June 17 on mobile

The Pokémon Company International is bringing its competitive battle simulator, Pokémon Champions, to iOS and Android on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The free-to-start game is already live on the Nintendo Switch, with a confirmed upgrade path for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and this mobile expansion brings full cross-platform play and cross-save progression through a standard Nintendo Account.
Free Mega Stones up for grabs
To celebrate the mobile rollout, a cross-platform log-in event runs from June 17 through September 2, 2026. Players on both Switch and mobile can claim a free Raichu alongside two brand-new, exclusive Mega Stones: Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. These items unlock fresh evolutionary forms for the classic Mouse Pokémon, hitting the gift box before they eventually arrive in the in-game shop later down the line.
How Mega Raichu changes battle
Giving Raichu a Raichunite X to hold transforms it into Mega Raichu X the second it enters battle, which immediately sets off the Electric Surge ability. This blankets the field in Electric Terrain for five turns, giving grounded Pokémon a 30% damage boost on all Electric-type attacks while completely blocking the sleep status effect.
If you run Raichunite Y instead, the strategy flips to raw, high-accuracy offense. Evolving into Mega Raichu Y activates the No Guard ability. This mechanic ensures that every single move used by or aimed at Mega Raichu Y completely bypasses accuracy checks, landing with a 100% success rate every time.
Cross-play matchmaking and registration
Pre-registrations are open on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store ahead of the Wednesday launch. Because the multiplayer infrastructure is entirely unified, mobile players can jump straight into the existing player base and match up against console players on day one.
Outside of Pokémon, The Adventures of Elliot demo dropped turn-based combat ahead of its global launch.
