PUBG Mobile Hero's Crown launches May 12

PUBG Mobile Version 4.4, titled Hero's Crown, launches on May 12 on iOS and Android. The update is one of the most ambitious thematic overhauls the game has had in years, pulling Erangel into a Greek and Roman mythology setting with new map zones, a PvE boss encounter, new abilities, new weapons, and a Blue Lock anime crossover arriving in the weeks that follow.
Erangel's familiar landmarks have been redesigned for the Hero's Crown theme. Yasnaya Polyana, the Ruins, Ferry Pier, and Mylta are all receiving Greek architecture overlays: marble columns, temples of the Olympian gods, gladiator barracks, and war banners replace the map's usual Eastern European aesthetic. The changes are not purely visual. Familiar hot-drop timing and sightlines change alongside the new structures, which reorganises how squads rotate and position in the opening minutes of a match.
Nimbus Island and the Divine Trials
The headline addition is Nimbus Island, a new floating hotspot called Crown's Abode. The island offers top-tier loot, additional revival opportunities, and two new active abilities: Heart of Fury, which provides a combat boost, and Spartan Flag, which expands a team's buff zone. A Centaur boss encounter is the island's centrepiece — squads have three minutes to defeat it in exchange for rare loot and unique rewards.
The Divine Trials system runs across the update as the main progression loop. Four named trials tied to mythology, Achilles, Spartan, Icarus, and Griffin, are scattered across the map. Completing them earns Glory Medals, which accumulate across matches and unlock the update's exclusive seasonal rewards. A new vehicle, the Chariot, is also introduced: a fire-horse-powered carriage with a top speed of 85 km/h that can briefly become airborne when fully powered.
Weapons, collabs, and what comes next
The M1 Garand arrives as a new sniper rifle. Weapon balance changes shift the meta meaningfully: sniper rifles receive a significant buff with damage reduction over distance disabled, making long-range engagements as effective as close ones. Assault rifles are pulled back, dealing less damage over distance, and shotguns receive adjustments to armour damage and spread. The Gilt Set, an upgradable Spartan Conqueror-themed outfit with matching weapon skins, is the premium cosmetic centrepiece of 4.4.
The full May schedule around the update is dense. Ranked Season 30 starts May 13. A Ford Motor Cruise collab event starts the same day. A Harley-Davidson collaboration goes live May 15. The Blue Lock anime crossover begins May 22, bringing character skins based on Yoichi Isagi, Seishiro Nagi, Meguru Bachira, and Rin Itoshi through a 500 UC Prize Path progression system. Early access Blue Lock rewards are available from May 14 for players who log in ahead of the main event.
