OneXPlayer has launched the X1 Ryzen Edition gaming handheld in China. It comes with the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, clocked at a max frequency of 5.1 GHz, and can be paired with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 4 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. However, at the moment, only the 32 GB memory and 1 TB storage variant is available for preorder at CNY 6899 (about $952).
Besides the Ryzen 7 processor, the other aspects are identical to the Intel Meteor Lake OneXPlayer X1. That means it still offers the "3-in-1" versatility, allowing you to use the device as a tablet, small laptop, or a regular gaming handheld. The screen also remains unchanged. It's the same 10.95-inch LTPS panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 540 nits of brightness rating, 10-point touch support, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.
As for the battery, it's a 65.02 Wh cell, a little lower than the newly launched Asus ROG Ally X. But the good part is that you get two USB 4.0 ports with a dedicated OCuLink port for better performance with eGPUs (such as the OneXGPU that's curr. $699.99 on Amazon). Asus's new gaming handheld, on the other hand, has one USB 4.0 port and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C.
Nonetheless, other highlights of the OneXPlayer X1 Ryzen Edition include a HARMAN-tuned audio setup, a robust cooling setup, and an aluminum alloy body. There's no word on global availability and pricing yet, but the company does sell the Intel variant in international markets. So, the new one should see a global launch soon.
