OnePlus 16 gets an official launch date, to arrive with "strongest performance ever"

OnePlus is now ready to release its next flagship phone. After weeks of teasers and feature reveals, OnePlus has finally announced a date for the debut of its most premium phone this year: the OnePlus 16.
As shared on the company's Weibo page, the OnePlus 16 is scheduled to launch on October 12 in China. A slew of posts confirm what to expect from the OnePlus 15's successor. One of them reads:
Delivering the strongest performance ever for performance enthusiasts, the fastest gaming experience for gamers, and a comprehensive flagship configuration inside and out for flagship users. This is the goal of the #OnePlus16#: a pinnacle performance flagship, and an all-around flagship rarely seen in its class! Beyond performance, unlock even greater power. OnePlus 16, see you on October 12th.
While previous OnePlus flagships going back to the OnePlus 7 Pro have tried to be rivals to more versatile flagship phones from brands like Samsung, the OnePlus 16 appears to be designed to be a performance-focused model, with an emphasis on gaming performance.
The upcoming flagship will arrive with a slew of features designed to maximize gaming. It will, of course, be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and has already been spotted on benchmarks carrying that chipset. System-wide 165 Hz on a 185 Hz display has also been confirmed, along with new generations of the company's Wild Chaser Gaming Core and Esports Tri-Core.
