The long-awaited mod tool for Baldur's Gate 3 entered the closed alpha phase yesterday. In the course of this, Larian Studios also announced when the release of the tool is planned.

Fans have long been waiting to create their own mods for Baldur's Gate 3, which was released on 3. August 2023 (available on Steam for $60). With Patch 7, which was announced yesterday on Steam the long-awaited mod tool will finally be integrated into the game. Larian Studios is developing the mod tool in cooperation with mod.io.

The mod tool will allow players to create new weapons and armor with their own designs and stats. New classes and subclasses as well as new skins are also possible. As the tool will be connected to Steam from the outset, managing the mods should also be straightforward.

Some lucky mod authors from the community who have been granted access to the closed alpha phase can already tinker with their first mods. Everyone else will have to wait until at least July. That's when the closed beta starts, for which every PC player can register. The upper limit is a maximum of 1,000 participants.

The final release of the mod tool for Baldur's Gate 3 is scheduled for September - but initially only for PC. Over time, some mods curated by mod.io will be playable for console players. However, PlayStation and Xbox players will not have access to the mod tool.
