OLED touchscreen MacBook seemingly confirmed as MacBook Ultra

Over the years, Apple has released very few Ultra-branded products, with only one actual “device” in production. The Apple Watch Ultra carries the moniker because it is the best of what Apple offers in the smartwatch form factor. The upcoming foldable iPhone is also said to carry the Ultra moniker. But that’s not it, the rumored MacBook Pro with an OLED display will likely receive the Ultra branding as well.
The information comes from Macworld, citing sources, and states that the MacBook Ultra will be the name given to the long-rumored OLED touchscreen MacBook. With this, Apple wants to expand its ‘Ultra’ portfolio that includes Apple Watch Ultra, CarPlay Ultra, and the ‘Ultra’ SoCs. The iPhone Ultra will be the next addition in the lineup.
This also means that the MacBook Ultra will cost a lot more than the MacBook Pro, which would make the latter a more affordable alternative. The MacBook Ultra, however, is said to offer a new way of using macOS, with touch input, for the first time ever. Apple has been well behind Microsoft in offering a desktop OS that is touch-compatible.
As for the iPhone Ultra, the foldable is expected alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September, but will be available later and in limited quantities, according to the report. The same will be the case with the MacBook Ultra. For now, there is no release date for this MacBook as it was initially expected this year, but recent reports claimed that the DRAM crisis has pushed it back to 2027.
