Update | Next Mass Effect game cancelled as EA shuts down BioWare

EA has shared the "Building EA's Next Chapter" letter sent to employees on its website, and BioWare has shared the news on its X account.
The original story follows:
The studio behind the iconic Mass Effect games, BioWare, is being shut down by EA. The information comes courtesy of industry insider Jason Schreier. The studio has had several issues for many years now, and following EA’s privatization, the restructuring has led to the studio’s closure.
Per Jason Schreier, BioWare was working on the next Mass Effect game that doesn’t have a release date. It was first announced in 2020, but over the years, as Schreier points out, only about 50 people were working on it. With Dragon Age: The Veilguard not being able to meet the sales targets EA had for it, the studio was gutted, with only 100 people left. Eventually, it was just 50 working on the new Mass Effect game, and EA eventually decided to shut it down.
The next Mass Effect game has also been cancelled. Reading a quote from an internal letter sent by EA management to the staff, Schreier says they’re closing the Edmonton studio and will “not be moving forward” with the development of Mass Effect. He also points out that EA hasn’t revealed whether they attempted to sell BioWare or its franchises to another publisher.
