New high-end Garmin cycling computer launches globally with GPS and voice controls

Earlier today, Garmin expanded its Edge cycling computer series with a pair of budget options. Shortly afterwards, it presented the Edge 1060, which directly replaces the Edge 1050 from mid-2024. In short, the Edge 1060 is twice as expensive as the Edge Explore 3, while costing 60% more than the Edge Explore 3 Plus, too.
However, the Edge 1060 retails for only $100 more than its predecessor (curr. $699 on Amazon). For that 14% increase, Garmin adds reverse charging support, a built-in microphone and Garmin Messenger compatibility. Incidentally, the latter two upgrades also mean that the Edge 1060 can take voice messages and can be used hands-free via voice controls.
The Edge 1060 is lighter and smaller than its predecessor at 142 g and 107 x 58.5 x 16.3 mm compared to 161 g and 118.5 x 60.2 x 16.3 mm. With that said, the new Edge 10 series cycling computer retains IPX7 certification, up to 60 hours of battery life and a 3.5-inch display resolving at 480 x 800 pixels. Please see Garmin's comparison tool for a full list of changes between the Edge 1050 and Edge 1060.
The Garmin Edge 1060 will be available to order in the US for $799, starting on October 23. Meanwhile, the new high-end cycling computer will reach Europe on the same day for £699 in the UK and €799 in the Eurozone. More details about the Edge 1060 can be found on Garmin's website.
