The Logitech Harmony, a popular universal remote control for all kinds of smart devices around the smart home, was discontinued some time ago. Now, a new and alternative smart home universal remote control is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
The Haptique RS90 from Cantata is an all-in-one remote control that can be ordered for an introductory price starting at €240 (~$260), taking into account the usual risks. According to the manufacturer, delivery is guaranteed worldwide. The device comes in either silver and gunmetal grey. Alternatively, the better-equipped Haptique RS90x is available for €300 (~$326). Among other things, the more expensive model has a fingerprint sensor and the latest Android operating system.

According to the manufacturer, the Haptique RS90 is the ultimate all-in-one remote control for the smart home. The device works with infrared, WiFi and Bluetooth and has integrated many different manufacturers and smart home platforms as well as more than 3,000 devices in total. Already supported or in the foreseeable future are Philips Hue, Sonos, Homey, Home Assistant, SmartThings, Spotify, AVRs from Denon, Yamaha, Amazon FireTV, Tuya, Nvidia Shield, Apple TV, Roku, Ikea Tradfri, Somfy Tahoma, Aqara and more.
The remote control itself is equipped with a 3.2-inch touchscreen and 24 physical buttons that can be used to control the devices and systems set up via the app. If the Haptique RS90 or Haptique RS90x works as well in practice as the manufacturer promises, it could be a practical alternative for controlling numerous devices in the smart home without always having to reach for a smartphone or talk to a voice assistant or having numerous remote controls for televisions and the like lying around.
