Krovatar plans to launch the portable KB-100X and Bluetooth-equipped XH in October. The players will initially be available in the US, with a European release also planned. Their power supply is a notable feature.

Krovatar plans to release two relatively basic Blu-ray Disc players in October. The KB-100X(H) follows the manufacturer's KBU-300 4K UHD player, a stationary model that also plays 4K discs and 5.1-channel SACDs. The KB-100 series is portable but has no built-in battery.

The players can run from a power bank thanks to their USB Type-C power input (USB Power Delivery, 12 volts). According to the manufacturer, a typical 37Wh power bank (10,000mAh at 3.7V) provides between 4.5 hours of Blu-ray playback and 5 hours of CD playback. The KB-100X and KB-100XH differ slightly in their features. The higher-end H model adds a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a 4.4 mm balanced audio jack, which is said to offer an advantage when using longer cables.

Both models have Bluetooth for pairing with the included remote, so no line of sight is required. Headphones can also connect via Bluetooth, with AptX support available. Krovatar told us that the KB-100X will cost $329, while the KB-100XH with the audio jacks will cost $359. As usual, US prices exclude sales tax, which varies by state and is added at checkout.

Sales in the EU are planned by the end of the year, but pricing has yet to be announced. Four colors will be available, with the X in the model name replaced by a color designation. The KB-100-B(H) is presumably the blue version, although we do not yet have the exact model names.
