NEC launches Android tablet with large 12.1-inch display

NEC officially launched the Lavie Tab T12 in Japan on July 30, 2026. It is positioned as a mid-range tablet featuring a large 12.1-inch LCD panel. The display has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It offers 600 nits of typical brightness and 800 nits of peak brightness.

The Lavie Tab T12 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset. For context, the Dimensity 6400 is an octa-core chipset based on a 6nm process node, with an average AnTuTu V10 score of approximately 449K points.

The tablet comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also supports storage expansion through a microSD card and ships with Android 16. The Lavie Tab T12 packs a 10,200mAh battery, which is claimed to provide approximately 13 hours of web browsing. Other specifications include a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

The device comes in a Cloud Gray colorway, measures 6.3mm thick and weighs approximately 530 grams. Notably, the tablet supports the NEC Digital Pen 3 stylus with 4,096 pressure levels, but it is sold separately.

The Lavie Tab T12 is priced at JPY 64,790 (~$411) in Japan. Readers outside Japan can check out the Lenovo Idea Tab Plus (curr. $267.45 on Amazon US), which offers similar hardware, including a 12.1-inch display and a Dimensity 6400 chipset.
