Motorola has released a new affordable smartphone, expanding the Moto E series in the process. Available for under £100 in the UK, the Moto E14 replaces last year's Moto E13 with a tweaker design, faster charging and a 90 Hz display.

Motorola has now presented the Moto E14, almost eighteen months after announcing the Moto E13 (curr. $89.95 on Amazon). Incidentally, early details about the Moto E14 first appeared roughly two months ago. While the suggestion that the device would feature a 5,000 mAh battery is accurate, its apparent support for 20 W wired charging was not.

Instead, the Moto E14 can recharge its 5,000 mAh battery at 15 W (5V/3A). Nonetheless, this still represents a 50% improvement on last year's model. Unfortunately, the Moto E14 retains its predecessor's Unisoc Tiger T606 chipset, as well as 5 MP front-facing and 13 MP rear-facing cameras. Moreover, although Motorola has switched from eMMC 5.1 to UFS 2.2 flash storage, it is only offering the Motor E14 with 2 GB of RAM.

Conversely, the Moto E14 has a fresher design with a higher screen-to-body ratio and slimmer display bezels. According to Motorola, the handset has a 6.56-inch IPS display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 within a 163.5 x 74.5 x 8 mm housing. For reference, the display outputs at 1,612 x 720 pixels with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Currently, the Moto E14 is available in the UK for £69.99 and in Graphite Grey, Patel Green or Pastel Purple colour options.
