The MNT Pocket Reform is now available for shipping. The manufacturer has communicated this specifically via CrowdSupply and also provided corresponding photos. However, supporters will have to be remain patient for a while yet, as around 700 devices will be shipped, which is a large number for a small company, and it will take several months before all units are ready for shipping.
We have already reported on the MNT Pocket Reform, which is a compact laptop with an open source background. The model has a modular design, allowing the processor and RAM to be replaced. The standard module comes with an i.MX8M Plus SoC from NXP, which is equipped with four Cortex A53 cores and a Vivante GC700UL graphics solution. An NPU is available, with open drivers for both the NPU and the GPU. The base module is equipped with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM. An NVMe SSD can be installed.
A mechanical and backlit keyboard with 60 keys is installed, connected via a Raspberry Pi RP2040 controller with a choice of different switches. A trackpad is also available. The seven-inch screen offers a resolution of 1920 x 1200; external screens with 4K resolution can also be connected via microHDMI. WiFi and Bluetooth are available, and a mobile modem can be retrofitted as an M.2 card. Lastly, there are two USB 3.2 ports in type C, Ethernet and a microSD card slot.
The model can still be ordered at a price of at least $999.
