Lenovo releases new budget laptop globally to undercut MacBook Air 15
Lenovo has released another IdeaPad Vibe laptop globally. For reference, the company introduced six variants last month, all in colourful finishes. Now, it has released the larger of its ARM-based options globally as a cheaper option to Apple's MacBook Air 15 (curr. $1,399 on Amazon).
On the one hand, the IdeaPad Vibe 15Q8X12 has arrived a month earlier than Lenovo suggested during the device's September announcement. On the other hand, the 15-inch laptop costs 14% more than promised in the US. To recap, Lenovo claimed that the IdeaPad Vibe 15Q8X12 would start at $699.
However, the company's website currently shows a $799 starting price with the Snapdragon X X1-26-100 and 8 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the 15-inch laptop starts at CAD 1,099, £780, €849-€949, HKD 9,438, MYR 4,939 and SGD 1,629 in Canada, the UK, the Eurozone, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, respectively.
For some reason, Lenovo includes 256 GB of storage as a starting configuration in North America, but 512 GB of storage in other countries. Other configuration options are limited, with one of seven colours to choose from, as well as 16 GB of RAM and Bluetooth 5.4/Wi-Fi 7 connectivity in some countries.
Moreover, Lenovo equips all SKUs with a 50 Wh battery that supports 65 W charging. The company has not revealed official battery life estimates yet, though. Also, the IdeaPad Vibe 15Q8X12 contains a 15.3-inch, 1200p and 60 Hz IPS display across the board with 400 nits peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Please see Lenovo's website for more details.
