Lenovo releases affordable 14-inch ThinkPad with Intel Panther Lake and up to 32GB RAM

Lenovo has started rolling out the Intel-powered ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 in more markets worldwide, nearly three months after the AMD Ryzen AI 400 version arrived. It replaces last year's Arrow Lake-powered Gen 6 model, pairing newer Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with largely the same design.
That said, the ongoing memory crisis appears to have pushed up prices even for Lenovo's more affordable ThinkPads. Lenovo initially said the ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 would start at $1,439, presumably with 8GB of RAM. That was already higher than the Gen 6 model’s $1,209 launch price. In the US, however, the cheapest configuration now costs $1,559 before discounts, although that offers 16GB RAM paired with the Core Ultra 5 325 processor and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Interestingly, only one preconfigured SKU is currently available in North America. Buyers in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Sweden get additional configurations pairing the Core Ultra 7 355 with 16GB of RAM or the more powerful Core Ultra 7 356H with 32GB. Meanwhile, Australia and India receive Core Ultra 5 332 and Core Ultra 5 335 configurations with vPro.
All configurations come with a basic 1920 x 1200 IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 400 nits of brightness. They also use the smaller 46.5Wh battery rather than the 57Wh option. Additionally, there is no fingerprint reader, NFC, card reader, or 5G support. On the upside, Lenovo includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a 720p webcam with a privacy shutter, and plenty of ports, including USB-C, HDMI 2.1, and multiple USB-A ports.
Pricing and availability
The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 Intel is now available across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Spain, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. Lenovo is offering discounts in select markets. In the US, for example, a 28% discount reduces the starting price from $1,559 to a more reasonable $1,109.
