Hogwarts Legacy is receiving Nvidia DLSS 5 support on 5 November, introducing AI-powered Neural Rendering for improved lighting, shadows and materials. The update supports GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs, RTX Spark systems and GeForce NOW Ultimate.

Hogwarts Legacy players have a new reason to revisit Hogsmeade, with Nvidia's DLSS 5 graphics upgrade arriving on PC on 5 November. The update introduces AI-powered Neural Rendering, promising more convincing lighting, richer shadows and finer environmental detail.

According to Nvidia's official announcement, the upgrade supports GeForce RTX 50-series desktop and laptop GPUs, RTX Spark PCs and GeForce NOW Ultimate. Players can activate the feature through a new Neural Rendering option in the game's graphics settings after installing the update.

Rather than simply sharpening an image or increasing its resolution, DLSS 5 uses AI to enhance how light interacts with surfaces, from weathered rooftops and stonework to foliage and reflections.

Avalanche Software has worked with Nvidia to integrate the technology into Hogwarts Legacy. The developer has used DLSS 5's controls to adjust how the enhancements affect different parts of the game, including environments and characters.

The update also incorporates Nvidia's newer Neural Rendering model, which the company says delivers twice the performance of its earlier implementation. Nvidia previously reported that the revised model reduces its footprint by 24% to approximately 118 million parameters, while cutting 4K VRAM usage by 20%.

For users with compatible hardware, DLSS 5 can be combined with other supported Nvidia technologies, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Reflex and Multi Frame Generation. In practical terms, the attraction is a familiar game world with a fresh visual makeover, although the full effect will depend on the hardware being used.

Nvidia's own performance demonstrations indicate that particularly high frame rates are possible on flagship GPUs, although results depend on hardware and graphics settings.

Hogwarts Legacy is the first of three games scheduled to receive the technology this month. War Thunder is expected to add DLSS 5 in mid-November, followed by Where Winds Meet on 23 November.

Players will need compatible hardware or an eligible GeForce NOW Ultimate subscription to use Neural Rendering.
