HMD Global has plenty of smartphones planned for later this year, including the Nokia Lumia-inspired HMD Skyline. One of the stranger options will be the HMD Fusion though, which will combine the Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset from the Fairphone 5 with various smart accessories that go a step further than Apple's MagSafe equivalents.

X (formerly Twitter) account @smashx_60 has leaked new information about another forthcoming HMD Global smartphone. Recently, the account has focused on HMD Skyline, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2-powered smartphone that resembles classic Nokia Lumia smartphones like the Lumia 920. HMD Global will not be offering Nokia Lumia design leanings across all its new smartphones though, including the HMD Fusion.

Instead, the HMD Fusion looks like the Pulse Pro that HMD Global already sells in some markets. As such, the former features a flat display that is said to measure 6.6-inches across. Additionally, the large display is expected to output at 1080p and 120 Hz while relying on IPS panel technology rather than more vibrant AMOLED or OLED alternatives. Moreover, the HMD Fusion is rumoured to contain 108 MP, 2 MP auxiliary and 16 MP front-facing cameras.

Furthermore, the handset has a 4,800 mAh battery that supports 30 W wired charging and the Qualcomm QCM6490, a variant of the Snapdragon 778G that Fairphone chose for the Fairphone 5 because of its longer support period than other Qualcomm chipsets. Surprisingly, HMD has also included a set of pogo pins on the device's rear, which will facilitate the use of 'smart outfit' accessories, which resemble Apple MagSafe equivalents in some cases. Although the full uses of these smart outfits are not yet known, the photos that @smashx_60 has shared so far show the addition of a third rear-facing camera, a Qi2 wireless charging ring and the option of transforming the HMD Fusion into a quasi-gaming handheld. Other details like a release date and launch pricing remain unknown for now, though.
