Getac asserts that its new S510 is ready for the oncoming AI-powered revolution in field-work, as it comes complete with a physical Microsoft Copilot button. The 15.6-inch PC is equipped with up to Core Ultra 7 processors from Intel and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, yet also supports more traditional rugged features such as hot-swappable batteries and the option of reading barcodes.

Getac envisions that public sector, military, industry and maybe even emergency medicine concerns are destined to become enhanced with specific AI apps that can analyze data in the field in order to anticipate problems and potentially hazardous situations even before they arise.

Accordingly, public safety, first responder or defense professionals are going to need a laptop such as the S510, touted as the rugged device industry's first to be truly "AI-ready", in the sense that it even has a Microsoft Copilot-branded button (and no number-pad) in its keyboard.

It can be configured with Core Ultra 5 or 7 platforms, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, up to 2TB PCIe NVMe SSDs and optional Thunderbolt 4 ports. The S510 also has a multi-bay system built into its side, which makes it compatible with user-removable modules that range from laser barcode scanners to DVD Super Multi Drives.

The S510 is available through Getac's sales team from now, while Oukitel's latest RT8 rugged tablet is now available on Amazon.
