Garmin releases new update for latest flagship smartwatches

Garmin has been releasing updates to multiple generations of Fenix smartwatches of late. While the company has introduced new software for the Fenix 7 and Fenix 8, it offered a somewhat surprising update to older Fenix 6 series smartwatches too.
Now, it has returned to the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro (curr. $1,149 on Amazon) with a second stable update since launching the pair in late August. For context, Garmin began rolling out System Software 6.48 over a fortnight ago. As we discussed at the time, the update focused on addressing bugs found in launch software.
This time, Garmin claims to have fixed a single issue. Not only that, but System Software 6.49 only resolves a bug for Fenix 9 models with AMOLED displays. Hence, neither the 47 mm nor the 51 mm versions of the Fenix 9 Pro will benefit from upgrading to Garmin's latest software.
In a forum post, the company asserts that System Software 6.49 fixes a bug that could cause system shutdowns on the watch face with certain languages. At the time of writing, System Software 6.49 is said to have been offered to all Fenix 9 series smartwatches. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
