Garmin Edge 1050: New leaks reveal specs and design upgrades before official release
New details about Garmin's next cycling computer have emerged online, less than a week after we originally reported on details about the Edge 1040 successor (curr. $569 on Amazon). Since then, Garmin has not revealed anything officially. Nonetheless, intrepid diggers have discovered references to the Edge 1050 on one of Garmin's regional websites.
Specifically, the likes of Cyclists Hub and others on Reddit spotted a Garmin Taiwan listing for the Edge 1050, evidence of which we have embedded below. Unfortunately, it seems that no one accessed the listing before Garmin Taiwan deactivated it. Still, several images were captured, confirming design changes and the presence of a larger display.
Additionally, the Edge 1050 will support Garmin Pay, matching Garmin's recent smartwatches. The adoption of a new 480 x 800-pixel display will reduce battery life though. Supposedly, Garmin will rate the Edge 1050 for up to 60 hours with power-saving mode activated or 20 hours in general use. Although a release date remains unclear for now, the emergence of hands-on images implies that Garmin has already sent Edge 1050 units to some reviewers.
