Galaxy Fold users increasingly report glitches with YouTube

Owners of Samsung's foldable phones are running into a persistent YouTube playback problem, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra appearing most frequently in complaints. According to a widely commented Korean-language Samsung community thread, the bug typically appears when a user switches away from the YouTube app mid-video and then returns to it: the picture freezes while the audio keeps playing. The problem is inconsistent: sometimes it occurs, sometimes it doesn't.

Roughly a dozen commenters have echoed the same experience over several weeks, with fresh reports still arriving. Some say they've hit the same freeze on the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and even on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, suggesting it isn't confined to a single model. Samsung has not addressed the thread.

The complaint has also surfaced in separate discussions on Reddit's r/GalaxyFold community (1, 2, 3), indicating the trouble isn't isolated to one forum post. For such a premium lineup, an unresolved, unexplained video-playback fault spreading across platforms without any acknowledgment from Samsung or YouTube is a poor look, and buyers are left with no official fix or explanation for now.
