Dell releases new 16-inch laptop globally with LPCAMM2 RAM and Intel Panther Lake
Dell has now started selling the Pro 5 Series 16 (P516260) laptop globally. Unveiled in March, the Pro 5 Series 16 currently lacks AMD processor options that Dell promised during the laptop's initial announcement, unlike the Pro 16 PC16255 before it (curr. $899.99 on Amazon). Instead, Dell restricts its new 16-inch laptop to eight options from the Panther Lake family, ranging from the Core Ultra 5 332 vPro through to the Core Ultra X7 368H.
Additionally, Dell offers the Pro 5 Series 16 with DDR5 or LPCAMM2 RAM, PCIe Gen 4 or PCIe Gen 5 storage and Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. The laptop can be configured with 45 Wh, 57 Wh or 70 Wh batteries just like its 14-inch counterpart, too. Presumably, Dell's official starting weight of 1.82 kg is with a 45 Wh battery rather than 57 Wh or 70 Wh alternatives.
Moreover, the P516260 can be configured with 1200p or 1600p (2.5K) IPS panels that deliver between 400 nits and 500 nits peak brightness in SDR mode. Some of these panels cover just 62.5% of the sRGB colour space, though. Also, while 120 Hz VRR options exist, none utilise OLED technology.
Dell shows the Pro 5 Series 16 starting at $2,302 and £2,011 in the UK. However, adjusting the company's configurator drops the laptop's minimum price to $2,232 and £1,947.47. While the laptop is available online in Canada and the Eurozone, Dell is only offering the Pro 5 Series 16 over the phone in Australia.
Also, configuring Dell's new 16-inch laptop with more powerful components sees it balloon in price. For instance, selecting a Core Ultra X7 368H processor and 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM results in the Pro 5 Series 16 costing $4,877 before making any other changes.
