The Luna Ultra could start at ¥5,299 (which converts to roughly $735 / €680).
Here comes the latest leaks on the Insta360 Luna Ultra price and specs. Featuring a dual-cam array with a 1-inch main sensor and a detachable OLED touchscreen, the Luna Ultra aims to rival the newly announced DJI Osmo Pocket 4P (which is launching May 14) and pocket cameras from Sony and Canon.
Gimbal camera enthusiasts are surprised following a major leak from tipster Digital Chat Station regarding the dual-cam Insta360 Luna Ultra, which is now expected to go head-to-head with pocket cameras from Sony and Canon in terms of price.
According to the available info, the Luna Ultra could start at ¥5,299 (which converts to roughly $735 / €680) for the body only, while the all-inclusive bundle (think: Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo) is expected to hit ¥6,499 (approx. $900 / €835). Not exactly affordable, to say the least.
It's likely to be significantly more expensive than similar products, and the price is clearly aimed at replacing pocket-sized mirrorless cameras. Prepare your budget and wait for the official launch. - Digital Chat Station
That said, the expectation is that the specs justify the premium price tag. The Luna Ultra is rumored to feature a massive 1-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 3x optical zoom snapper (not 6x, apparently), stretching to 6x lossless and 12x hybrid zoom.
According to a recent patent, Canon is also working on a premium gimbal camera.
Insta 360 Luna Ultra price leak suggests Insta360 is going after DJI, Sony and Canon: Is the rumored cost justified?
Meanwhile, as our exclusive Luna Ultra retail box leak revealed, the detachable OLED touchscreen, which is going to double as a remote control. It's exactly this feature, paired with pro-grade extras like 32-bit audio recording that might be the reason for the rumored pricing.
The leak arrives just as DJI officially announced the Osmo Pocket 4P (Pro) will be launching May 14, with the reveal set to take place in Cannes.
While still unconfirmed, it won't be a huge surprise if the launch window for the Luna Ultra directly overlaps with DJI’s dual-cam Pocket 4P release. It’s worth noting that Insta360 also has a direct competitor to the vanilla Pocket 4 on the way - the Insta360 Luna Pro.
Stay tuned for more news around the official unveiling of the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Osmo Pocket 4P.
