Crimson Desert gets a new massive update that adds Special Mounts, new extraction system, and more

A few days ago, Pearl Abyss teased that a big update was on the way for Crimson Desert. At the time, they only briefly mentioned some of the features being worked on, including new mounts and an extraction mechanic. Now, the full patch is finally live across all platforms, bringing several improvements and changes.
What does the update offer?
One of the biggest additions in the update is the new Special Mount system. Players can now tame and register certain animals as mounts after gaining their trust. The list includes bears, boars, wolves, deer, mountain goats, camels, lions, tigers, and several other creatures.
The taming process depends on the animal type. Some aggressive creatures need to be subdued and fed before they can be trusted, while other species require different methods. Players can also now feed mounts while riding them directly through the inventory menu.
Another major feature added in the update is the new Extraction system. This feature allows players to recover materials previously used to refine equipment. Until now, once materials were used for upgrades, they were permanently locked into that gear. The new system changes that.
Players can now visit smithies across different regions and lower an item’s refinement level to recover part of the materials invested into it. Special materials like Artifacts and Aeserion’s Scale are recovered completely, while common materials such as ores and bloodstones return at roughly 70% efficiency.
The update also introduces new unarmed combat skills for Oongka. Players can access them through the “Fists” category in the skill menu. Pearl Abyss also confirmed that unarmed combat skills for Damiane will arrive in the next update.
Outside of the major features, the patch also includes a variety of improvements across the game. Certain equipment pieces can now be enhanced, new sockets have been added for Abyss Gear, elemental resistances on some cloaks have been adjusted, and multiple bugs involving pets and comrade missions have been fixed.
That said, these are only some of the many additions and improvements introduced through the latest Crimson Desert update. For the full list, you can check out the official update log.
