Core Ultra 5 135U performance debut: Dell Latitude 13 7350 laptop review
![Dell Latitude 13 7350 Dell Latitude 13 7350](fileadmin/_processed_/b/c/csm_PXL_20240630_0315096472_d177907476.jpg)
The Latitude 13 7350 succeeds last year's Latitude 13 7340 by introducing Meteor Lake-U options to replace the outgoing Raptor Lake-U series. Otherwise, chassis design remains the same as before and so we recommend checking out our review on the Latitude 13 7340 to learn more about the physical features of the model.
Our unit in review is a lower-end configuration with the Core Ultra 5 135U, 32 GB LPDDR5x 6400 MT/s RAM, and 1200p matte display for approximately $1700 USD. Other SKUs are available with the Core Ultra 7 165U CPU and touchscreen, but the integrated graphics and 1200p resolution are fixed across all configurations.
A convertible version of the model is also available called the Latitude 13 7350 2-in-1 which comes with an exclusive 2560 x 1600 touchscreen. It otherwise shares the same overall design and processor options as our clamshell version in review.
The Latitude 13 7350 competes against other high-end business subnotebooks like the Lenovo ThinkBook 13x, Framework Laptop 13.5, or the HP EliteBook 1040 series. This is one of the few models still shipping in a 13.3-inch form factor as 13.5- and 14-inches are becoming more common in the category.

Case — Passes MIL-STD-810H Tests
The easiest way to distinguish between the Latitude 7350 from its predecessor is to look for the Co-Pilot key on the keyboard which replaces the Ctrl key. The 2023 and 2024 models are otherwise visually identical.
Communication
Wireless has been upgraded from the Intel AX211 to the Intel BE700 for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support. WAN support remains optional.
Webcam
There are now 5 MP options to better match the quality of webcams as found on competing HP models. However, this is only available on certain non-touch clamshell configurations and so all touchscreen options are still limited to 2 MP webcams only.

Maintenance
Sustainability
The battery consists of 50 percent recycled cobalt while the chassis uses up to 90 percent recycled magnesium and 50 percent recycled aluminum.
Warranty
There are no extras in the box other than the AC adapter and paperwork. A three-year base warranty with next-day on-site support come standard if purchased directly from Dell.
Display — Standard 60 Hz IPS
Dell is using the same Chi Mei 133JCG panel for both the Latitude 7340 and 7350 models meaning that the visual experience has not changed for this year. While this particular offers great colors and contrast levels for an IPS screen, it's starting to feel a bit dated due to the lack of support for high refresh rates and Windows VRR. Black-white and gray-gray response times are poor as well leading to noticeable ghosting if streaming or playing games.

The display does not come pre-calibrated with color temperature being slightly too warm out of the box. Calibrating the display ourselves would improve average grayscale and color deltaE values from 3.4 to 1.1 and 3.31 to 0.8, respectively. We recommend trying our calibrated ICM profile above for free to get more out of the sRGB display.

Testing Conditions
We set both Windows and Dell Optimizer to Performance mode prior to running the benchmarks below.
Processor
The Core Ultra 5 135U offers a respectable 20 to 25 percent multi-thread performance boost over last year's Core i5-1345U in the Latitude 7340. The new Core Ultra 5 is also faster than the disappointing Core i7-1355U. Upgrading to the Core Ultra 7 165U from our base Core Ultra 5 135U configuration is expected to increase performance by another 15 percent based on our time with the Latitude 9450 2-in-1.
A key differentiating factor between the Core Ultra 5 135U and Core Ultra 5 125H is the poorer performance sustainability of the former. When running CineBench R15 xT in a loop, our U-series CPU would drop in performance by as much as 30 percent over time whereas our H-series CPU can sustain faster performance for longer.

Stress Test
Initiating Prime95 causes the CPU to spike to 3.2 GHz, 59 W, and 100 C lasting for just a few seconds before dropping to 2.1 GHz and 24 W and then finally settling at 1.8 GHz, 17 W, and 68 C. Repeating this same test on the Latitude 7330 with the older Core i7-1265U would result in warmer core temperatures despite the slower performance to show measurable performance-per-watt gains between the Intel Core generations. However, the drop from 3.2 GHz to just 1.8 GHz is steeper than we would like even for a Core U-series CPU.
GPU clock rate and temperature when running Witcher 3 would stabilize at 1900 MHz and 65 C, respectively, compared to just 1247 MHz and 83 C on the Latitude 7330. The system runs cooler than the two-year old Latitude 7330 design.

Graphics performance with our integrated Arc 4 is nowhere near as powerful as the Arc 8 that comes with Core Ultra H-series processors or the competing Radeon 680M/780M series. It is nonetheless a step above the older Xe Graphics G7 80 EUs or 96 EUs especially in the DX12 test Time Spy where our Arc 4 can be up to 15 to 30 percent faster. Actual performance in games. however, is neck-to-neck with the Iris Xe series in most tested titles with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands being an exception.

System Noise
The fan tends to idle when idling on desktop or when running very undemanding loads like word processing. More realistic loads like web browsers or video streaming would induce a fan noise of just under 28 dB(A) against a silent background of 23 db(A) which is still hardly audible under most conditions.
Fan noise when running higher loads is more or less the same as what we recorded on last year's model. Running Witcher 3, for example, would induce a steady fan noise of around 35 dB(A) which may increase to just over 40 dB(A) over longer periods or if the CPU is stressed even more.

Energy Management
Power Consumption
Idling on desktop consumes between 2 W and 5 W even when on the maximum brightness setting to be one of the lowest of any 13-inch subnotebook. This also explains the extremely long battery life in the next section below. Otherwise, consumption when running higher loads like 3DMark 06 or Witcher 3 is comparable to what we recorded on the Latitude 7340. Note that GPU performance is slightly higher on the Latitude 7350 meaning there are some slight performance-per-watt gains between the older Raptor Lake-U processor and our newer Meteor Lake-U configuration.
Consumption would spike to as high as 63 W from the extra-small 60 W USB-C adapter (~6.6 x 5.6 x 2.3 cm) when the CPU is fully stressed. However, this rate would fall sharply to 33 W due to limited Turbo Boost potential which aligns with our CineBench R15 xT loop observations noted above.

Battery Life
Runtimes are almost exactly the same as what we recorded on the Latitude 7340 at just over 15 hours of real-world WLAN browsing. This remains one of the longest-lasting 13-inch subnotebooks in the market beating out even the MacBook Air or the recently released ARM-powered EliteBook Ultra.

Verdict — Refined And Polished
The Latitude 7350 polishes up some of the blemishes that were introduced in last year's Latitude 7340 redesign. SSD throttling is now gone, the optional 5 MP webcam replaces the aging 2 MP webcam, RAM is now faster (6400 MT/s vs. 4800 MT/s), and both Wi-Fi 7 and AI acceleration are now supported to better futureproof the system. Of course, the usual performance uptick from the new processor options shouldn't be ignored as the new model is faster without impacting battery life or noise and temperature levels. The system packs a good punch considering the small 13.3-inch form factor and very portable weight.
The latitude 7350 is prized for its 1 kg weight and extra-long battery life making it ideal for many business travelers. It doesn't offer anything special when it comes to display options or graphics performance, but that may not be a problem for most use cases.
There's still room for improvement. Display options for the clamshell model, for example, are limited to just IPS and 1200p resolution. Furthermore, you can't configure with both touchscreen and a 5 MP webcam simultaneously as the two options are mutually exclusive. Competing models like the ThinkBook 13x, HP Dragonfly, or EliteBook 1040 series offer faster refresh rates, deeper colors, brighter displays, and/or faster graphics performance than the Latitude 7350. None are as lightweight, but they're strong alternatives nonetheless especially if you want to maximize image quality.
Price and Availability
Dell is now shipping the Latitude 13 7350 starting at $1700 USD for the Core Ultra 5 SKU up to over $1900 for the Core Ultra 7 SKU depending on RAM, storage, and touchscreen functionality.
