ChatGPT Plus in other apps: signing out does not stop the usage

Under Security and login, ChatGPT lists the apps you signed in to with your account (German interface). This is also where you disconnect them.
ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers can now let apps such as Notion, Vercel and Devin use their ChatGPT plan. OpenAI announced the option at DevDay. The app gets your name, email address and profile picture, but not your chats. Signing out of the app does not end the connection. That has to happen in ChatGPT.

At its DevDay developer conference on Tuesday, OpenAI announced a new way to use a ChatGPT subscription. Plus and Pro users can sign in to participating apps with their ChatGPT account and let those apps run AI requests on their plan. OpenAI lists 16 partners, including Cognition's Devin, Notion, Vercel, T3, OpenClaw and Dactyl. The release notes describe it as "a limited preview with participating integrations." No API key is needed.

What the app sees and what it uses

According to OpenAI, signing in shares your name, email address and profile picture with the app. The connection does not give it your conversations, memories or an API key, and any other permissions are requested separately. Requests from the app count toward the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage included in your plan. "How quickly you use your included usage depends on the app and the tasks you run," OpenAI's help page says. The settings show how much an app has used, but not which actions caused it.

Setting a weekly limit per app

Under Settings and Usage, you can cap each connected app. The limit is weekly and sets the share of your overall weekly usage that the app may consume. It does not add any usage. Once your plan limit is reached, apps can also draw on purchased credits, but only if you have explicitly allowed it and the app's limit is set to 100%. That option is off by default. OpenAI advises checking automatic credit purchases first, because continued usage can lead to charges and "you may not receive a separate notice when your included usage limit is reached."

Signing out is not enough

Signing out of the app only ends your session there. The app stays connected to ChatGPT and can keep using your plan. To remove it, go to Settings, Security and login in ChatGPT and open the Sign in with ChatGPT entry under login connections. The entry also appeared on a free account in Germany on Wednesday. Disconnecting does not restore usage that has already been counted, and it does not delete data the app has already received. For that, you need to contact the app's provider. Sign in with Google works in a similar way, where deleting an app does not revoke its access either.
