Casio takes new G-Shock launch 1,375 feet underground for unusual rave

Casio is taking the launch of its latest G-Shock Mudman somewhere rather less conventional than a watch showroom. On 15 October 2026, a small group of guests will descend into Cwmorthin Slate Mine in Eryri, North Wales, for a performance by drum-and-bass producer Roni Size, reportedly 1,375 feet (approximately 419 metres) below ground.
Reaching the venue will involve navigating dark tunnels, waterlogged passages and underground ravines, with zip lines and abseiling also forming part of the route. The event is being organised to celebrate the arrival of the new GDG-B100 Mudman.
The mountain will become part of the music
Perhaps the most unusual aspect is the planned sound experiment. According to Casio's event announcement, elements of Size's performance will be transmitted into the surrounding slate, while specialist equipment captures vibrations travelling through the rock, water and mud.
Those recordings will then be incorporated into the music, effectively using the mine's acoustic properties as part of the performance.
Casio is also seeking independent recognition for what it describes as the world's deepest underground rave. The record attempt has not yet taken place, and recognition is not guaranteed.
The event will be broadcast through G-Shock Radio on 15 October, with the full performance scheduled to become available afterwards. The public ballot for places closed on 9 October.
New Mudman combines rugged construction with fitness tracking
The event accompanies the launch of the G-Shock Mudman GDG-B100, which features a Memory-in-Pixel LCD, red LED backlight, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity and step tracking.
The watch also offers training functions covering pace, distance and calories burned, alongside shock, dust and mud resistance and 200-metre water resistance.
According to Casio's specifications, the GDG-B100 measures 63.6 × 49.6 × 16.2 mm, weighs 66 g and has an estimated two-year battery life using a CR2032 battery.
The underground event offers selected guests an opportunity to experience the new model. The watch is not exclusive to the event.
