Casio debuts new limited-edition Oceanus Manta: Titanium build with striking marble ceramic bezel

Casio has put a brand new ¥748,000 Oceanus on its Japanese site. The OCW-SG1000MC-1AJR uses marble ceramic — Casio makes this by blending black and white ceramic before shaping it. The two colors never mix the same way twice, so every one of the 300 pieces comes out patterned differently. Blue-green turns up where the black and white meet.
Casio calls the theme Ocean Surge. The dial is made out of glossy black ceramic. The caseback carries an engraved swirl meant to read as a tide, and DLC covers the case and the bracelet. Minus 10% consumption tax, that price comes out to $4,310.
Underneath all that is the Manta SG1000 people already know. Titanium case, solid titanium bracelet, 47.5 × 43 × 11.7 mm, 100 g, 10 bar, sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces. Gallium Tough Solar drives it. A full charge runs about five months in normal use, or eighteen months parked in the dark with power saving switched on. Neobrite handles the lume.
Timekeeping comes at you three ways. Multiband 6 pulls radio signals in Japan, North America, Europe and China. Bluetooth syncs to a phone and opens up world time for roughly 300 cities, against 27 on the watch alone. Lose both and the quartz holds to 15 seconds a month.
The price deserves a look next to last year's equivalent. Casio's previous Partner Shop Manta, the OCW-SG1000CN-1AJR, wore an Edo Kiriko cut sapphire bezel and sold at ¥682,000 across 600 pieces. This one is ¥66,000 more expensive, and Casio is making half as many.
It lands on 13 November, serial numbered, through Casio Watch Partner Shops only.
