The new G-Shock Mudman borrows its colors from one of Africa's most unusual birds
Casio has teamed up with Earthwatch Japan for another wildlife-inspired G-Shock, and this time, the Mudman takes its cues from the unusual-looking shoebill stork. The GW-9503KJ pairs a blue-gray finish and gold accents with Tough Solar charging and Triple Sensor functionality.

Casio has released a new special-edition Mudman in collaboration with Earthwatch Japan, the Japanese branch of the international environmental nonprofit Earthwatch Institute. The two have teamed up several times before, with their last collaboration giving us GW-9502K-1 Mudman inspired by the African hippopotamus.

This time the spotlight is on a rather unusual-looking bird: the shoebill stork, a large wading bird native to the wetlands of eastern and central Africa that is classified as Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.

The new GW-9503KJ sports a blue-gray color scheme inspired by the shoebill stork’s body color. The stainless steel bezel gets a matching blue-gray ion-plated finish, while gold accents around the dial and on the prominent front button take inspiration from the bird’s enormous, shoe-shaped bill.

There's also a light beige strap keeper featuring the Earthwatch Japan logo, with the organization's name and the message "Change the World. Yourself." printed on the band. The Earthwatch logo also appears on the LCD when the LED backlight is turned on.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the GW-9503KJ is a fairly well-equipped watch. It has Casio's Tough Solar charging system onboard along with Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping, and a Triple Sensor setup consisting of a compass, barometer, altimeter, and thermometer, allowing you to measure direction, altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature right from your wrist.

As you’d expect from a Mudman, the watch boasts a carbon core guard structure, mud resistance, shock resistance, and 200-meter water resistance. The GW-9503KJ  ships in special packaging made from recycled paper.

As mentioned at the start, this isn't the first collaboration between Casio and Earthwatch Japan. The duo previously teamed up in 2024 for the GW-9501KJ-8JR, inspired by Blakiston's fish owl, before returning last year with an African hippo-themed Mudman. As with previous releases, a portion of the proceeds from the GW-9503KJ will go toward supporting Earthwatch Japan's conservation and research initiatives.

The Casio G-Shock Mudman GW-9503KJ is available for pre-order starting today and is set to go on sale in Japan in November 2026 for ¥64,900.
