Best in class creasefree display: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra hands-on video leaked

While the alleged real-life photos of the next Samsung foldables that surfaced last week were non-functional dummies most likely, this is definitely not the case in the latest leak. A video shared by leaker Setsuna Digital on Weibo shows what appears to be a brand-new Samsung foldable that, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 7, shows hardly any dents or crease on its foldable display.
After a few seconds, the foldable phone, which will most likely be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, is being turned on. You can also briefly see the cover display and the back but the video’s focus is clearly on the crease control of this foldable generation. From certain angles, you can still make out a very slight shadow of a crease, but most likely it won't be visible or noticeable most of the time, similar to the Oppo Find N6 a few months ago.
The iPhone Ultra competitor will be similar, leaker suggests
Ice Universe also expressed confidence that the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 will launch with a similarly impressive display, according to earlier reports from South Korea, it should actually handle the crease even better, thanks to thicker UTG material. The secret to Samsung's almost creasefree display most likely lies within the new hinge though, which, could potentially have drawbacks as well, as Ice Universe recently hinted. It’s also unclear how well the crease will remain under control after a few months of use, even the Oppo Find N6 is showing visible signs of wear after roughly 200 folds.
Update 13.07.2026 Potentially not the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
Hours after the leak, Ice Universe spoke up again with a perhaps surprising theory. After further review, he noticed some inconsistencies in the video, which he outlines in another X post (see below). According to his theory, the foldable shown cannot be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, as the display has too much glare, the camera bump differs in detail from the design of the new Samsung foldable, and the camera cutout in the display is too large. He concludes that the device must actually be the Galaxy Z Fold 7, though this doesn’t explain why the display appears almost perfectly crease-free. Nevertheless, it’s important to emphasize that leaks are never 100 percent certain. In any case, Samsung will reveal the final Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in just a few days by July 22 at the latest.
