Even though Nvidia is yet to officially show off the RTX 5050 laptop variant, the GPU has been spotted on multiple storefronts alongside multiple low-cost laptops. A new listing from Vietnam shows it again, and this time, it is an Asus ROG Strix G16. It has a placeholder price of 999,999,999 VND, which will very likely be revised once the laptop is official.
To recall, the laptop was refreshed at CES 2025 with AMD Ryzen 9000 HX Fire Range laptop CPUs. A Dragon Range (Ryzen 8000 HX) refresh was also revealed later. This ROG Strix G16, however, uses neither. Instead, it pairs the RTX 5050 with an Intel Core i7-14650HX, a Raptor Lake-based processor. Other specs include 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM (up to 64 GB supported), a 1 TB SSD, a 90 Wh battery and a 16-inch 2.5K (2,560 × 1,600) 240 Hz ROG Nebula display. The screen, in particular, is borderline overkill for a RX 5050 laptop.
Even though the CPU is powerful, the GPU will have hard time outputting a steady 240 FPS natively, effectively forcing you to use DLSS Frame Gen and Multi Frame Gen to get the best out of your hardware. The RTX 5050 laptop GPU is rumoured to launch with a boost clock of up to 2,250 MHz and a 115 Watt TDP (100 Watt base + 15 Watt boost), with some versions going as low as 60 Watts. It is tipped to feature a GB207 GPU with 2,560 CUDA cores.
