French brand Archos will bring three brand-new Oxygen handsets to this month's MWC trade show in Barcelona, but the company has just revealed all there is to know about them — including their prices and launch dates. Powered by non-Qualcomm processors, these handsets come with generous screen sizes and will be available for purchase in Europe at prices starting at the equivalent of around US$112.
Without further ado, these are the names and the highlights of the latest three handsets announced by Archos:
- Oxygen 57: Unisoc SC9863 with IMG8322 graphics, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 5.71-inch 1,520 x 720 pixels IPS display, 5 MP front camera, 8 + 0.3 MP back camera, 2,800 mAh removable battery
- Oxygen 63: Unisoc SC9863 with IMG8322 graphics, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, 6.26-inch 1,520 x 720 pixels IPS display, 5 MP front camera, 8 + 0.3 MP back camera, 3,000 mAh removable battery
- Oxygen 68XL: MediaTek Helio P22 with PowerVR GE8320 graphics, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 6.85-inch 1,352 x 640 pixels IPS display, 5 MP front camera, 8 + 0.3 MP back camera, 5,000 mAh battery
The Oxygen 68XL is the only one of the three to feature USB Type-C charging, but it lacks NFC connectivity. The official press release claims that the main camera setup combines an 8 MP sensor and a VGA one, but this looks like a mistake (VGA instead of 2 MP). All in all, it seems that having Android Pie onboard and a low price are the strongest selling points of the three Archos Oxygen handsets mentioned above (the "high-end" 68XL has a sub-US$170 price tag).
Would you get a smartphone without NFC connectivity and sub-300 ppi display in 2019? Feel free to tell us what you think about the Oxygen 57, 63, and 68XL in the comments section below.
