Apple has finally unveiled HomeView, its long-rumoured smart home hub with a 7-inch display, facial recognition and a substantially upgraded Siri assistant. The device doubles as a smart home controller and entertainment centre.

Apple has officially unveiled HomeView, its first dedicated smart home display. Positioned as an alternative to Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub devices, HomeView combines a touchscreen, speakers and a redesigned Siri assistant into a single device.

According to its official specifications, Apple HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen with a resolution of 1,088 × 1,088 pixels and a pixel density of 220 PPI. The IPS panel supports True Tone, has an oleophobic coating and automatically adjusts its brightness between 0.3 and 500 nits. The tabletop variant has an aluminium body, a domed speaker base and a stainless steel hinge that allows the display to tilt. It weighs 952 grams and is available in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey.

Under the hood, HomeView uses Apple’s A18 chip, which also handles privacy-sensitive camera and microphone processing through dedicated Secure Enclaves. It includes a 12 MP Center Stage camera with an f/2.4 aperture for FaceTime calls, alongside four microphones for far-field Siri commands. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E with MIMO, Bluetooth 6.0 and Thread networking support. Apple has also equipped it with ambient light, temperature and humidity sensors, alongside an accelerometer.

One standout feature is facial recognition, which identifies up to six household members and automatically switches between personalised home screens. Each user can access their own widgets, messages, calendar entries and other supported applications.

HomeView also introduces Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation voice assistant with conversational capabilities, broader general knowledge and contextual awareness. Users can ask follow-up questions, control connected devices and interact with compatible applications. However, Siri’s more advanced personalised features require an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Conversations can also be continued across compatible Apple devices.

For entertainment, the tabletop HomeView includes two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators. It supports Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, computational audio, Apple Music, Apple TV, podcasts and compatible third-party applications. AirPlay multiroom audio is also supported.

The wall-mounted version retains the same display, A18 chip and connectivity features, but makes some compromises to its audio system. It uses two full-range drivers without the tabletop model’s dedicated woofer and passive radiators. At just 9.8 mm thick and weighing 286 grams, it is also considerably smaller and lighter.

There are some notable limitations. HomeView requires an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later, for setup. Siri AI launches in beta, while certain server-based Apple Intelligence features have daily usage limits. Apple also intends to charge for expanded access to these features in the future.

Both HomeView variants cost $299 in the US. The tabletop version includes a 1.5-metre USB-C cable and a 30 W power adapter, but the wall-mounted model includes neither. Compatible mounts start at $59.95, while a Power over Ethernet mounting solution will arrive in early 2027 for $129.95. Pre-orders open on October 13 in several markets, including India, the UK and the US. European Union customers are excluded from the initial launch because Siri AI is currently unavailable in the region.
