Amazon has given the Garmin inReach Mini 2 global satellite communicator a rare discount of $100 off MSRP. The sales price of $299 has only been briefly offered once this past year. The rugged Garmin lets users communicate with friends, family, and emergency services for up to a month on the rechargeable battery, allowing for extended trips through the Adirondacks and boondocks. The inReach can store up to 1000 waypoints or locations during extended trips. The communicator utilizes the GPS/GALILEO/QZSS satellite navigation networks and has the TracBack feature to guide users back to their starting point.

The Mini 2 utilizes the Iridium satellite system for global communications coverage even where cellphone coverage does not exist. An Iridium subscription enables the texting, weather forecast, location sharing, and SOS emergency response features of the inReach. The communicator can be paired with a cellphone to program routes, access topographical maps, and send satellite messages on the phone. Pilots can also pair the Mini 2 with the Garmin Pilot app to communicate and share location data in-flight.

The Mini 2 is MIL-STD-810 rated for impact resistance and IPX7 for water resistance. The 3.5 oz. (100 gr) body measures 2.04 x 3.90 x 1.03 inches (5.17 x 9.90 x 2.61 cm). The monochrome, sunlight-readable display is protected by chemically strengthened glass similar to Gorilla Glass. The lithium-ion battery recharges over a USB-C connection and can power the inReach up to 30 days when using 30-minute tracking send intervals and full sky view.
