Arrowmax’s Arrowspace S1 electric screwdriver uses a camera and AI software to identify screws, recommend bits and automatically select torque settings for precision repairs. The Kickstarter campaign has raised over $164,000 so far, with deliveries expected in April 2027.

Arrowmax's Arrowspace S1, an electric screwdriver featuring AI-powered screw recognition, has significantly exceeded its original crowdfunding target of just under $11,500. The campaign has raised more than $164,000 on Kickstarter at the time of writing, demonstrating strong demand for a tool designed to simplify precision repairs.

Rather than requiring users to identify screw types and sizes themselves, the S1 uses an integrated HD camera and AI software to recognize fasteners and recommend the appropriate screwdriver bit. Several configurations are available for interested buyers, including a complete kit containing 52 different bits.

The identification process involves a small camera positioned at the rear of the screwdriver, accompanied by a retractable probe. Placing the probe against a screw ensures the camera maintains the correct focusing distance before capturing an image. The accompanying software then identifies the screw's type and size, displaying the result through a smartphone app. This is demonstrated in the following video:

The system also communicates with the optional Smart Case, which features a two-inch touchscreen and individual LED indicators that illuminate the recommended bit's storage compartment. Additionally, the screwdriver automatically selects an appropriate torque setting to help prevent users from damaging delicate fasteners.

The 6.7-inch S1 has an aluminum body, an OLED display that shows battery level, torque and rotation direction, and forward and reverse controls. Its 600mAh battery is rated for up to 90 minutes of use, or approximately 900 screws, while USB-C charging takes around 70 minutes. The 52 included bits are made from S2 steel, with the kit aimed at precision work on electronics, watches, eyewear and drones.

Kickstarter pricing starts at approximately $79 for the screwdriver alone, while the full package with the Smart Case and 52 bits costs around $129, depending on the pledge tier. Shipping is expected to begin in April 2027. Of course, crowdfunding campaigns harbor certain risks, such as production or shipping delays or the product not working as advertised.
