Update | Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S officially released, boasts impressive specs and quad-layer ceramic body
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s flagship was officially announced earlier today with impressive features like quad-layer ceramic surface for the backplate and body, extensive photo/video modes and a hardware configuration that would make competing flagships envious.
The new quad-layered ceramic material is supposed to increase the overall resistance to scratches, but can also break easier if the device is dropped. Specs-wise, the Mi MIX 2s is powered by an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The 5.99-inch IPS display will feature a 2160 x 1080 bezel-less panel with the 2:1 aspect ratio.
The f/2.0 5MP selfie cam appears to be once again located in the lower right, while the rear is getting a 12 MP dual pixel camera setup, which supports multi-frame noise reduction, portrait mode and slow-motion video capture, letting users record footage at 120 fps in 720p, 30 fps in 1080p or 30 fps in 2160p.
This model will also come with a 3,400 mAh battery that can be charged wirelessly. Other features include: Android 8.0, dial SIM, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. Unfortunately there still is no audio jack.
The 8 GB + 256 GB version has an MSRP of ~US$640 (includes a wireless charger), while the 6 GB + 128 GB variant is priced at ~US$575, and shipping will begin later this April.
