The AiDot brand WELOV asserts that its latest air purifier is a world first in that it is the first device of its kind officially approved to work with the Matter standard for smart home IoT and devices. The company believes that this is a significant upgrade as it allows the P200 Pro to integrate with Apple Health in order to keep on optimizing air quality even when the user is asleep.

WELOV has announced that its latest P200-series device is its first to be Matter 1.2-certified out of the box. The brand hints that the new feature might be most attractive to potential customers who like to sleep with their air purifier on.

That behavior might be scientifically backed up by a couple of studies (albeit literally a couple and not exactly up to date) indicating that air constituents of the PM2.5 category (which covers potentially harmful particles such as those associated with fuel combustion) increase in concentration during the night, according to WELOV, at least.

Accordingly, the P200 Pro is rated to "adjust purification modes according to light and deep sleep cycles" in real time when its permission to access Apple Health's sleep-tracking data is activated. WELOV also asserts that the new purifier's Matter certification will allow it to integrate more smoothly with other smart home and home IoT devices from its brand and that of its parent AiDot in general.

The P200 Pro has launched today (January 5, 2024, and not, oddly enough, particularly in conjunction with CES), although details on its actual pricing and release are still forthcoming.
