MagyarTransparent in-ears with 10 BA drivers and Hi-Fi mode: FiiO unveils FA19 flagship IEMs
While most wireless headphones only have one or two drivers, the wired in-ear monitor market has many models with far more drivers. This includes the brand new FiiO FA19, which feature ten balanced armature drivers per ear, including four Knowles HODVTEC woofers, two Knowles ED midrange drivers, and four Knowles SWFK-31736 tweeters.
FiiO advertises a frequency response of 10 Hz to 40 kHz, a sensitivity of 106 dB/mW, and an impedance of 10 ohms. A Hi-Fi crossover with an error tolerance of less than 0.1 percent is said to enable a smooth transition between these drivers. A slider on the earphones allows you to switch between "Hi-Fi sound" with slightly amplified bass and a monitor mode with the most neutral sound possible.
The 3D-printed housing allows FiiO to achieve an ergonomic shape despite the numerous components inside, while the transparent material allows a view inside. The supplied cable is not made of copper, but of silver, so as not to affect the sound as much as possible. Thanks to the MMCX connection, the cable can be changed in seconds, while FiiO supplies both a 3.5 mm and a 4.4 mm plug.
Prices and availability
The FiiO FA19 can be purchased on the manufacturer's website for 1,099 euros including VAT. In addition to the earphones and cable, FiiO also supplies a carrying case, a cleaning brush, a magnetic cable clip, and a total of 14 pairs of ear tips so that users can choose the perfect silicone or foam ear tips for their ears.
