After cutting the monthly FSD subscription price by 50%, Tesla now dropped it's purchase costs, too.

After it started mandating trials and introduced free FSD transfers, Tesla's amassed more than one million miles driven with its most advanced driver-assist option.

This might have been the goal all along, as it needs as many of those driven safely in real-life conditions as it can to show to regulatory bodies if it wants its Robotaxi gamble to pay off in any meaningful numbers.

In a move that is certain to make it hit two million FSD miles, Tesla lowered the subscription price for its self-driving feature by half to just $99/month, and brought it to Canada as well.

This, however, increased the spread needed to warrant a purchase instead of subscription to more than 13 years there, so Tesla had to do something about the FSD cost, too.

It just did, lowering the FSD option price to $8,000 from $12,000, or from $15,000 before that. That's nearly halving the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) option costs in the span of six months or so, and a part of Tesla's unrelenting price cuts campaign. The moves have left many current owners aghast, especially those who bought cars and features at their peak in 2022 or 2023.

They were certainly annoyed to hear that Tesla is once again dropping the Model X, Model Y, and Model S prices across the board again yesterday.

In China, however, where Tesla faces much tougher competition than in the US, today's price cuts are even more severe. The Model X, for instance, which is now at its lowest ever price in the US, has been cut by the whopping $24,500 in China, while its Plaid version dropped the most with 22%.

The bestselling Model Y and Model 3 Highland, which are actually made locally, saw more modest price cuts of about 5%, or about the same $2,000 in USD equivalent as Tesla dropped them with in the US.

It remains to be seen how this latest bout of Tesla price cuts will affect the stock price on Monday, but Tesla is now advertising the Model Y as a sub-$30,000 vehicle with the US tax credit.
