Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A31
Not only does the Samsung Galaxy A31 offer a large super AMOLED display, but the battery is also quite large at 5,000 mAh. The exact opposite of this is the price, since it's quite low at about 200 Euros (~$239). Our review will show the performance that can be expected in the end.

So is the Galaxy A31 worth its price tag? Well, lets look at what it offers — an sAMOLED display that is great for media consumption, a large solid battery that can handle the most power hungry applications and still last a day, and a camera experience that is quite reasonable. However, the performance of the MediaTek Helio P65 holds it back quite a bit and the design of the smartphone is nothing exciting.

The Samsung Galaxy A31 is a decent smartphone but it is facing competition in-house only. Priced at Rs 20,999, the smartphone ticks all the boxes but its M-series sibling the Galaxy M31 is a better and much affordable option. Display and battery are the highlights of the smartphone. And one cannot overlook its comfortable and sleek design. In all, it is a capable smartphone designed for Samsung fans only.

While the Samsung Galaxy S and Note series are the flagships that get the most attention, the Galaxy A series is also doing quite well in the smartphone industry. In fact, the Galaxy A51 was the most shipped Android phone of Q1 2020 for being affordable with respectable tech specs. It's currently priced at RM1399 but if you're still looking for something cheaper, you can opt for the Galaxy A31 at RM1099.

A year ago, Samsung managed to release the best mid-range smartphone in the market — the Galaxy A50. Two iterations later, the company lost the title to Xiaomi and Realme. Instead of learning from experience, the company brute forces its way into the competition by releasing tons of mid-range phones in nearly every price segment. At P17,990, the Galaxy A51‘s price is a tough pill to swallow. However, if you want something under P15,000, the Galaxy A31 costs P14,990 and offers nearly everything that the Galaxy A51 has. Here is our camera and gaming review of the Samsung Galaxy A31.

Samsung Galaxy A31 has one of the best displays in its price point, thanks to Super AMOLED. While we don't mind the underperforming Helio P65 when it comes to day-to-day tasks, the lack of software support from the MediaTek's chipset keeps us from recommending this phone. You're missing Night Mode, Video Pro Mode, electronic stabilization, and 4K recording. All these features are found on almost all mid-range phones. If you like a Samsung alternative, the Galaxy M31 may be worth purchasing more than this one.

All the while, devices like the Galaxy A51 and especially the Galaxy M31 manage to fill most of the holes left inside the A31's specs and feature sheet, while also staying at or close to its original budget. For that reason alone, and before even looking around, outside Samsung's current offers, we find it hard to recommend the Galaxy A31. You can get more for your money elsewhere.

The Samsung Galaxy A31 is a good phone to pick up if you’re looking to pick up a good deal in the lower midrange bracket. And that’s not an association that you can make everyday. Despite it’s benchmark score, it works very well in real-world situations. It’s camera has its usual Samsung characteristics, which is usually a safe bet if you’re into smartphone photography. Battery life is also sufficient for everyday use, even if you push it regularly. All-in-all, the Samsung Galaxy A31 is a pretty good pick for a phone in the lower mid-range bracket. If you’re looking for a phone in this range, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Samsung Galaxy A31 is a good phone overall, but is really let down by the processor and RAM offering performance that isn't on par with the great screen, cameras and battery.

My experience with the Samsung A31 was very good and I recommend it if you want a mid-range smartphone that has no gimmicks and will not disappoint you when you need it. I'd got as far as to say that Samsung managed what it boasted in the Galaxy A Black Pink ad: "Awesome Screen, OK Camera, Long Lasting Battery Life."

The Galaxy A31 is priced at Rs 21,999 ($300) in India. At that price, the device misses out on a lot of features that one can find in devices that are over $100-$120 cheaper than it. The Galaxy A30 was priced noticeably cheaper than the A31 in the region so it is a bit surprising to see Samsung jack up the prices by over $60 for a mid-range phone without bringing any major performance improvements to the table.

I’ll keep this short: If you’re wondering whether the Galaxy A31 is a phone you should purchase or skip, you have to ask yourself what your priorities are. If you think you will be doing any serious gaming that involves playing titles like PUBG, you are better off spending extra and buying the Galaxy A51. If your budget is tight and you’re not a heavy gamer, then the Galaxy A31 can serve you well. Just don’t expect it to excel in anything but battery life and display quality, and you will have no complaints.

I'm struggling to find a good reason for the Galaxy A31 to exist, and I honestly cannot think of one. It seems as though Samsung has launched it simply to fill the price gap between the Galaxy A50s (Review) and the Galaxy A51 (Review) — either of which would be a much better pick than the Galaxy A31. Battery life is the main standout feature here, along with the decent build quality and display.

Moving to the verdict, the Samsung Galaxy A31 is good for those who want a phone with attractive design, light in weight, and a good display and battery life. The Galaxy A31 is a fairly good upgrade over the Galaxy A30, the battery is upgraded, the performance is now better, and the camera is upgraded to quad-setup. But camera enthusiasts should find a better deal, you will miss the 4K, slow-motion, and 60fps video capturing capabilities.

Samsung had been making waves in the mid-range smartphone market with the Galaxy A51. I was surprised to know that it’s Samsung’s best-seller in Q1 2020, according to Canalys. Now, we have the new Galaxy A31.

The Samsung Galaxy A31 is Samsung’s latest mid-range smartphone. Although mid-range, it features several top features, such as a four-lens camera, a 6.4” Super-AMOLED display and a 5,000mAh battery capacity. The Galaxy A31's back adopted a unique ice-crystal lattice design, using geometric lines and 3D glass material, which can reflect colourful gloss under the light. In addition to Prism Crush Black, there are two other colour schemes, namely Prism Crush White and Prism Crush Blue. The overall design is very similar to the Galaxy A51 and A71. The frame part is made of plastic material with a polished design, with a SIM card slot on the left; the volume adjustment key and power key are on the right. The top of the build is equipped with a microphone, whereas the bottom houses a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-C interface, a microphone and a speaker. The Samsung Galaxy A31 runs on a MediaTek Helio P65 with 6 GB of RAM + 128 GB of ROM. As for the display, the Galaxy A31 is equipped with a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super-AMOLED screen, using an Infinity-U design plus a 20:9 screen ratio, which helps to broaden the field of vision when watching movies or to experience the ultimate visual enjoyment while playing games. In addition, the Galaxy A31 provides a dark mode that everyone loves, and also has an eye-protection mode, allowing players to adjust the appropriate eye protection when using the phone in a dark light environment, thus reducing eye fatigue and protecting the eyes.
The Galaxy A31 is equipped with a powerful four-lens camera. These four lenses are placed in an L-shaped arrangement. They comprise a 48MP super-clear main camera, an 8MP super-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP depth-of-field lens. This lens and the 5MP macro lens also support AI-scene recognition, which automatically adjusts the best colour mode, so that users can take good pictures in any scene. The 48MP ultra-clear main camera can bring high-resolution images; the 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens can show a wide viewing angle of 123°; the 5MP depth-of-field lens combined with multiple depth-of-field effects makes the subject more prominent, and the 5MP macro lens allows user to take details at close range of up to 5 cm. As for the battery configuration, the Galaxy A31 has a built-in 5,000mAh battery that can provide super long-lasting battery life for streaming albums, browsing the internet, playing demanding games, etc. At the same time, the mobile phone also supports 15W lightning-fast charging to quickly charge the battery. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy A31 is a mid-range performance smartphone with decent performance. The display is pleasing to the eyes, which is another highlight of the smartphone. The long-lasting battery makes it the perfect device for power users who use their smartphone heavily.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

70.34%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
