Ryzen 5 6600H-powered GMKTec M6 mini PC goes on sale in China, starting from just $181
The GMKTec M6 mini PC - the successor to the M5 (curr. $399 on Amazon), has hit the shelves in China, priced from 1,288 Yuan (~$181) onwards for the barebone version.
Equipped with a 45W 6-core/12-thread AMD Ryzen 5 6600H processor based on AMD's Zen 3+ architecture that is commonly seen in gaming notebooks, the performance of the CPU aligns roughly with that of an Intel i5 12450H. While this level of performance is adequate for most tasks, it won't exactly blow anyone's socks off. However, considering the price and the thermal constraints typical of mini PCs, the CPU choice appears reasonable enough.
The M6 lacks dedicated GPU support, instead relying solely on the Radeon 660M iGPU with 6 CUs piggybacked on the CPU. This GPU, based on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture is comparable to the RX 550 'Polaris' GPU from 2016. Clearly, this product is not targeted at gamers, but the inclusion of a USB 4.0 port does offer the potential for some added GPU grunt through eGPUs.
In terms of memory and storage options, the M6 supports up to 32 GB of 4800 MT/s DDR5 RAM and up to a terabyte of SSD storage. The available configurations are as follows:
- Barebone : 1288 Yuan (~$181)
- 16 GB RAM + 512 GB SSD : 1788 Yuan (~$252)
- 16 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD : 1988 Yuan (~$282)
- 32 GB RAM + 1TB SSD : 2288 Yuan (~$323)
Connectivity options include dual 2.5G ethernet, HDMI 2.0 (up to 4k@60Hz), 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, 1x USB 2.0 port, 1x USB 4.0 (Type-C) port, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
