New e-book reader with color display, audiobook support and text-to-speech: PocketBook Era Color now available
Around a month ago, PocketBook presented its new Era Color e-reader. Today, the product has officially been launched, with the first online stores already having the new e-book reader on offer, albeit with a rather long delivery time. Other retailers are sure to follow soon.
The recommended retail price for the new PocketBook Era Color is $259.99, which is slightly higher than the classic PocketBook Era model with its black and white display, which can currently be ordered for $219.99 at Amazon.
The name of the new model already indicates the major change compared to the PocketBook Era, namely a color display. The manufacturer uses an E Ink Kaleido 3 color screen, which displays 4096 colors and has a 50% improved resolution compared to the previous generation. The color resolution of the 7-inch display is 632 x 840, while the black and white display is 1264 x 1680.
Moreover, the PocketBook Era Color offers extensive features that not only enable the reading of digital books. The e-reader supports a total of 25 e-book formats, including the CBR and CBZ comic formats. The Kindle AZW and AZW3 formats are also possible, as long as the content is not copy-protected. Six audiobook and music formats are also supported.
With the text-to-speech function, content can also be read aloud via the integrated loudspeaker if desired. Lastly, the IPX8 waterproof PocketBook Era Color e-book reader offers 32 GB of storage, a SMARTlight function and dual-band WiFi packed into a 235 g device.
