Motorola has delivered a new mid-range smartphone by way of the Edge 50 Fusion. Available soon globally with a €399 launch price, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion combines a 144 Hz pOLED display with a 5,000 mAh battery and a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset than pre-release leaks suggested.

Motorola has expanded its Edge 50 series with another two smartphones, having debuted the Edge 50 Pro last month in India. On the one hand, the company has delivered the Edge 50 Ultra as a flagship option, launch details of which we have covered separately. On the other hand, it has also revealed the Edge 50 Fusion, a more budget option that is a closer relative of the Edge 40 Neo than the Edge 30 Fusion (curr. $279.99 refurbished on Amazon).

While the design of the Edge 50 Fusion matches pre-release leaks, its underlying chipset does not. Specifically, Motorola has equipped the device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset that we reviewed earlier this year inside the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. Although the 4 nm chipset is more powerful than the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 that was rumoured to be powering the Edge 50 Fusion, it still falls short of the Snapdragon 888 Plus that powers the Edge 30 Fusion.

Also, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is approximately 6% faster than the Dimensity 7030, a 6 nm chipset that Motorola chose for the Edge 40 Neo. Additionally, Motorola equips the Edge 50 Fusion with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 68 W wired charging, 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage and a 6.7-inch pOLED display that not only outputs at 1080p but also 144 Hz and with 1,600 nits peak brightness.

Moreover, the 161.9 x 73.1 x 7.9 mm and 174.9 g handset features 50 MP primary (OIS), 13 MP ultra-wide-angle (120° FOV) and 32 MP front-facing cameras. The Edge 50 Fusion will be available in Forest Blue, Hot Pink and Marshmallow Blue colour options. Currently, Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 50 Fusion will go on sale for €399 across the Eurozone 'in the coming weeks'. The handset should reach in 'selected' Asia, Europe, Latin America and Oceania markets too; unfortunately, it remains to be seen when this will be the case.
