According to Windows Central, the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 series still have a few months left before being replaced. For context, Microsoft released both devices in October 2022 with Intel Alder Lake processors. Nonetheless, successors will allegedly be missing from Microsoft's next Surface Event, which is rumoured to occur in late March.
Instead, Microsoft plans to reveal Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 models in June, hardware details for which surfaced earlier this month. Previously, both devices were expected to ship with two processor options, like the Surface Pro 9 series. However, Windows Central now implies that only Snapdragon X SoCs will power consumer-facing Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 SKUs.
Instead, 14th Gen Intel Core processors will be exclusive to the business-focused Surface Laptop 5+ and Surface Pro 9+, details of which we have covered separately. Potentially, Microsoft may have pushed the release of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 to line up with 'Hudson Valley', an update that may launch as 'Windows 11 24H2'. For reference, Hudson Valley has also been referred to as Windows 12 because of the changes contained within it from current Windows 11 builds.
