Mi 11 geared for legendary status as Xiaomi sells 350,000 units in five minutes
Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 on December 28. The phone went on sale at the stroke of midnight today in China and appears to have smashed all expectations, with Xiaomi announcing a huge sales milestone.
In a Weibo post, Zeng Xuezhong, President of Xiaomi's mobile department, announced that the company sold over 350,000 units in just five minutes. That sales figure translates into over 1.5 billion Yuan in sales, or right about US$230 million. In just five minutes.
This isn't the first time Xiaomi has seen impressive sales numbers. The Mi 10 Ultra, for example, sold about 75,000 units in a minute, or about US$58 million in sales. The Redmi K30 Ultra did 100,000 units in just one minute. None of those attain the heights of the Mi 11, however.
That should come as no surprise, of course. After all, Xiaomi already received over 226,000 pre-orders prior to launch. The Mi 11 looks to offer excellent value for money, with a QHD+ 120 Hz AMOLED, Snapdragon 888, stereo speakers, 55 W charging, and 108 MP camera—all for just CNY 3,999 (US$610). Hard to beat that.
