IKEA could be about to launch a new smart plug, INSPELNING. The device was revealed earlier this year and has since appeared in the IKEA Home Smart app. Features include energy usage tracking and the ability to create a schedule.

The IKEA INSPELNING smart plug could be launched soon. The product was first spotted in an FCC filing late last year alongside the TRETAKT, which launched in the EU in March. IKEA officially announced the INSPELNING in May, suggesting it would launch the product in October.

However, INSPELNING was recently spotted by Smarthome Assistent in the IKEA Home smart. The product could have arrived with version 1.28.0 for Android or version 1.34.0 for iOS, which rolled out on June 20th and June 26th, respectively. The release notes for the latest firmware did not mention the addition of the smart plug; instead, they stated that the new version of the app brought bug fixes and improvements.

The INSPLENING allows you to track your energy consumption in the IKEA app, a feature that customers are already testing in Sweden. It is worth noting that you will also need the DIRIGERA hub for this feature. Both models allow you to remotely control the plug through the app or with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa. Plus, you can set up a schedule for automation. It is unclear whether or not IKEA will bring forward the launch of the INSPELNING smart plug or how much it will cost. For context, the TRETAKT retails for around €7.99.
