I’m Back GmbH has launched the Yashica – I’m Back micro mirrorless camera on Kickstarter. The camera, also known as MiMi, is smaller than a 3 x 5 inch photo print and will ships in kits that include a mini-lens. A optional C-mount lens adapter enables compatibility with common SLR lenses.

I’m Back GmbH has launched the Yashica – I’m Back micro mirrorless camera on Kickstarter. Also known as MiMi, the miniature camera measures 3.0 x 1.9 inches (77 x 50 mm) and weighs 3.5 ounces (100 grams). The camera can be used for general photography and videography with its external microphone input, HDMI output, and webcam capability. An optional C-mount lens adapter accommodates SLR lenses from Canon, Nikon, Leica, Pentax, Olympus, and Yashica.

The MiMi uses a 12 megapixel, 1/2.33” Sony IMX117 CMOS sensor with an ISO range of 100 to 3200 capable of 4K H.264 video recording at 24 fps. The Yashica’s built-in Wi-Fi enables wireless file transfers and webcam use for live-streaming. The camera has a built-in accessory shoe and input for external microphones. A 3.7 volt, 1,350 mAh rechargeable battery lasts 50 minutes when the MiMi is recording 2K videos and 30 minutes when recording 4K videos.

Photos taken at the 12 MP native resolution and optional, 40 MP upscaled resolution can be stored in JPEG and RAW formats on Micro SD cards as large as 128 GB in size. Photos can be transferred to computers over a USB-C connection. A flip-forward, 2 inch LCD touchscreen display makes taking selfies easy.

Seven kits are on sale for $199 to $599 with a variety of mini-lenses and accessories. Some kits come with the standard 50 mm (35 mm equivalent) lens, while others add the wide-angle 20 mm (35 mm equiv.) or telephoto 150 mm (35 mm equiv.) lens.
