Huawei's solution for a full-screen device could be a slider phone
There’s no doubting Huawei has one of the best smartphone portfolios around, which has recently been enhanced by the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone and will benefit even further from the upcoming announcement of the P30 series. It leaves one to ponder what direction the Chinese manufacturer will take next in regard to smartphone design, and it seems a slider phone could be a potential route.
Recent slider phones we have reviewed have received very good scores. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 managed a rating of 89% while Huawei’s sub-brand Honor was awarded with a mark of 88% for the Magic 2 slider phone. Smartphones with sliding mechanisms obviously bring the advantage of leaving the display free from notches of all shapes and sizes. But there is also a disadvantage in terms of dust-proofing and water-proofing the device.
In LetsGoDigital’s renders, this potential Huawei slider phone has a dual camera setup on the slider and another dual camera system on the rear. There’s no obvious sign of a fingerprint scanner, so it could be in the display or incorporated into a hardware button. The renders offer no further clues, although the presence of a rear-facing camera setup that features just two lenses does suggest this particular Huawei slider phone would be a midrange device.
